The Science Group of Performance BIB examines a wide range of
subjects with the aim of:
Quantifying the impact of the primary parameters that determine BIB
wine shelf-life, including the type of wine, amounts of SO2, microbiological
stability, headspace and dissolved oxygen, gas barrier of the initial
package, logistics damage to the package and storage temperatures.
Standardizing technical specifications and test methods for BIB
packaging and wine.
Estimating the environmental impact of BIB and other package systems.
Making recommendations for improvement.
Supplying scientific and technical information to the Education Group so
as to communicate its findings to a wider audience.
